Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that is responsible for hydrating the skin. It protects tissues from bacterial infections, binds collagen and elastin fibres in the dermis together and exhibits water-binding properties in the skin. When used by injection, it leads to firming and moisturising of the skin and filling of furrows or reduction of wrinkles.
